Friends and Family May Influence Our Views of Beauty
The adage says beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but a recent study claims that our ideas on what makes a face attractive may be influenced by our friends and family.
The findings suggest that perceptions of beauty are not just a matter of individual tastes or wider cultural influences. Our small social circles might play a role too.
Understanding how people arrive at their standards for attractiveness has relevance well beyond the dating game, according to research. The results of other studies suggest that perceived attractiveness may have broad effects on how people are treated in their daily lives, affecting things as vital as their odds of getting a job or their earnings potential.

In my book review of Body Drama at Secondopinion.org., I have been surprised how many women suffer such a poor view of their inner and in this case, outer beauty. This then affects the way they make choices for the rest of their lives. Nancy Redd, author of Body Drama, has done a remarkable job at drawing out women's inner thoughts and helping them realize that most of us have perceived and real imperfections and that is normal.
